Awaken

as I watch the stones stand firmly by
and clouds pass gently in the rose colored sky
setting sun falling steadily out of sight
my fear awakens in the night

it is not the enemy that I cant see
that does not cease to trouble me
nor the scream rent from the lips
of my fallen love with her ivory hips

but when the sun at last sets
my concious mind all but forgets
that my heart exists as does my soul
in reflection i've paid a terrible toll

I fear for what I may never see
if this darkness masters me
your eyes again blazing in the sun
in the valley where our hearts first spun

my lady, my love and my whole life
mother of my children and treasured wife
the man you knew is once again at your side
there are some things darkness can never hide
