No Way Out

Chest tightened
Feeling frightened
Think I’m having
A heart attack
Cold all through
Shaking too
Right now any
Safe spot will do
Try not to scream
Or utter a cry
Praying this attack
Will hurry on by

Author notes

No matter who or where you are, dying is done alone. And a heart attack has to put the fear in you. Very good.

I am sorry to hear that you have these panic attacks. . .

I have a couple of friends who suffer from them too

I'll be sure to keep you in my prayers.

I like the effect of the short lines and the rhyme,

    it adds to the impact.

    Just plain brilliant, dear poet.

I wish you all the best~

I'm sorry to hear that you and your husband suffer from panic attacks. I've had a couple in my younger years and know how scary they can be. Best wishes in the contest sis.

OMG! I have had two or three [can no longer recall] horrific weeks of endless panic attacks..every word here is both stunning and profoundly true for those that suffer with anxiety attacks and clinical depression like I do..Cathy, it got so bad a few times all I good do was cry and pray for the pains to end..I was begging for death..I hope I don't go through this again tonight but chances are I will since I've been dealing with them every damn night..I don't know what sleep is any more..I passed-out several times..this was my only rest

I am so sorry both you and you husband has to deal with this agony as well...
    many blessing..love..David

Nice to know I'm not alone

You are not alone. I'm about to post a poem simular to this and what I go through. It's nice to know I'm not alone. I too suffer from severe panic attacks. Great job on the poem. Thanks for sharing.
