towards an empty winter

singling out one part

of indeterminate snow,

takes the beauty from it

when all i capture

is the icy nature of your despair

the flake, netted with lace

floats, mingles with frozen lakes,

ones we shared in mellow greens

a spring,

a vibrant summer's echo

language we transposed

together

we called it poetry

gathering phrases from dead leaves,

rustling through windy fields

describing how the grass swayed

you won't write it now

the ever-after we dreamed about

while this cool entity

withers bones and dies with skin

regardless of warm remembrances

fall was our nemesis

we were meant to expire

at season's end

as yesterday melts

as today fades

a tomorrow that will not occur

Author notes

Nature gives to every time and season, some beauties of it's own; and from morning to night, as from the cradle to the grave, it is but a succession of changes, so gentle and easy; that we can scarcely mark their progress.
Charles Dickens.

    'the flake, netted with lace'
    sigh. Beautiful.

  • you are so right, each season does hold it's own beauty,
fall happens to be my favorite, love to beautiful colors,
and the cool evening breeze. winter is the lets get warm
and cuddle time. spring reminds me of being born again,
like coming back to life after a long winters nap, summer
reminds me of ice cream and laughter.
    love your poem, very enjoyable.

    loveandblessings2u & yours always
