Perplexed am I
you see, For I was born in Kenya
The land of BORN FREE.
Yet I cannot remember Nairobi
For it was Scotland Bound for me
Whilst I Lived in England for a while
I returned to the Bonnie Highlands Of Scotland
Then LEFT to go to South Africa
Where the wild life roams free
in the Vast spaces
That is the VELD.
Many years later I headed
back to Scotland,
where I lived for 23 years
Not feeling like it was my real home
I left to settle
in England
where my accent fits in fine.
For I no longer have a lilt
and sound South African
But in my heart my country is
SCOTLAND.
Where I remember running in the
Mountain Heather
and Fishing in the River Spey
Hearing the Howling Wind
and the Arching of the trees
