"She was a goddess once,"
you tell me in the middle of the night,
looking into your eyes,
I know that it is true,
at least in your mind.
You rave of her beauty,
perfection,
her intellect,
unmatched.
So there's no explanation,
no way for me to get around this,
your love, your perfect, pretty love,
was a goddess once
and I'm just me,
mortal and bland, just as I've always been.
If she was a goddes once,
I want to ask you,
why is she no longer?
But I am afraid of the answer
for you and for me.

I really liked where you were going with, in this-but then things sort of shifted abruptly, wish there were a little more here to make me understand the end.
anyway,
thank you for taking the time to enter this contest, and I wish you all the best.

Wow. So raw and powerful. Very strong message. I love the last stanza, especially.
