Mother Moon

platinum eyes

regard me from on high

as her voice whispers a song

undulating faintly on the winds...

"I am still here with you,

my child..."

stars coruscate brightly,

quasars pulsing like the tears

streaming down my face

from the umber

she materializes

and I am heartened

by Mother's gracious smile

Author notes

to my mother, who ascended last year on the thirteenth of December.

Her name is Cynthia, an epithet of the moon. I think of her when I see it, and imagine her smiling down on me, even through the grief.

This is celestial and surely worthy of the Gold Cup your pen honestly earned. What a wonderful tribute to your mother. Her eyes are smiling like the moon. Her heart swells in the heavens to have a daughter as beautiful and thoughtful as you my dear. I am glad to see you scribing again. Your words were always as beautiful as your spirit. I have missed you and I am glad upon your return. Glorious work! A labor of LOVE!

    CONGRATULATIONS!

just beautiful! such a wonderful and heart-felt tribute to your mother. trust me it gets easier with time and since you're not going anywhere soon, time is all you have. embrace it! don't be afraid to cry your heart out if that is what you feel. laugh out loud with a funny memory, scream at fear. bottling up is not the answer. great write for your come back. keep penning baby, it suits you well.

    Nice one...

.... a great tribute for the one you love. I have not yet lost my mother and I hope it doesn't happen so either. I can only imagine the pain this brings to someone. I am sorry for your loss!

A touch of sadness yet to touch from afar
never to leave her child, for no matter where she rests she will
always be her or his guiding light
