sandcastles

by firelight the fissures burn,

crackled; embers rearrange

we watched dawn this way

dangling promises with feet

into oceans of observations

wind whet appetites

until we became sand

tiny grains

running nowhere at all

Author notes

Prompt: You say you'll give me eyes in a world of blindness
A river in a time of dryness
A harbour in the tempest

But all the promises we made
From the cradle to the grave
When all I want is you

Just stunning! Imagery and metaphor burns the page here... I love it.

wow - wonderful imagery combined with metaphor, makes me think that sand is at home where ever it goes, like the people in this poem.
