To me

He was my opiate
Mixed up dream
Drug of choice
Delirious scream

He was my lover
Tender care
Unbroken bodies
Fastened stare

He was my labour
Constant heed
Crisis drowning
Aching need

He was my desire
Illicit bliss
Fraught disclosure
Bitter kiss

He was my harbour
Final rest
Wave lapped shore
Sunset crest

He is my past
Forgotten plea
Annulled chapter
Dead to me.

    outstanding

I thought this was the most accurate, true to life (at least in my experience) account of love that I've read in a very long time. It is beautifully worded, I absolutely love it.

    this poems success was down to the excellent word choice. Because the lines are so tightly woven you have to speak to us in strong poetic language, this was not only achieved but mastered! I like the way that every stanza is a poem in itself. well thought out and great metaphors;
    'He was my labour
    Constant heed
    Crisis drowning
    Aching need'

this was definitely my fave line. loved your flow thank-you for entering good luck
