Winter Chill

Missing image

Nights slaughter hope as

pain paints a dreadful portrait

of a love long lost

Sanguine tears scald

 a broken heart

Nightmares vibrate

 empty memories as

promises once made

now sparkle

above a watery grave

Suffocation began years ago

the day you walked out

or perhaps it was

the day you said

Hello

I love this poem and the twist in the end. Makes one ponder. Very nice with imagery and metaphor. Keep on penning. You do a great job at writing. Have a lovely evening and thank you for letting me read.

Oh my....The stark ominous picture grabs my attention, but as I read your imagery only emphasizes a morbid gruesome relationship complemented by the prompt, ending with the powerful penning..
