I saw you lying upon the ground
Surrounded by the sweet smell of wild roses
Your body covered by such beautiful yet treacherous flowers
Their thorns penetrating every inch
Of your once pale and impregnable skin
And I thought nothing of it
I left you there
Because you looked so peaceful
So happy so at rest
You seemed so... immortal... inhuman
And I left
Then I waited for you
Longing to feel your breath upon my skin
Waiting to feel the chills run up and down my spine
I waited for you to return
And when you did
Your eyes were icy and scary
Yet attracting and seducing
You smiled and your teeth had grown
Now like knives waiting to pierce and unsuspecting victem
And I feared you
I wanted to run
Run far away
But I was drawn in by the lust and desire on your face
I could not run
I let you come to me
Let you place your cold hand upon my cheek
And move in for the kill
And you penetrated my bare and fragile neck
I wanted to scream
For such pain shot through my body
And I wanted to pull away and run
But I let you take the blood from my veins
Leaving me lifeless
Now every time I think of it
I see you, in my mind, lying upon the ground
Surrounded by the sweet smell of wild roses
Your body covered by such beautiful yet treacherous flowers
Their thorns penetrating every inch
Of your once pale and impregnable skin
And now I understand
That you were not at peace
I understand that the look that spread across your face
Was a look of great pain
And I realize how something so simple
Had saved my mortality from you
For just a few minutes longer
But it could not save it from you forever
Because, if it had, then I would still be human today
