The Visual Cliff Experiment

I'll fall off the cliff
If I crawl out there.
Call me all you like,
You can't trick me.

If I crawl out there,
I'll get hurt.
You can't trick me,
I'm one month experienced.

I'll get hurt.
I'm not stupid.
I'm one month experienced,
But I know better.

I'm not stupid.
Call me all you like,
But i know better.
I'll fall off the cliff.

Author notes

This poem is written in a Pantoum style. Pantoum is a rhyme/rhythm optional style. What is lacks in rhyme and rhythm structure, it makes up in stanze structure. The first stanza's four lines are labeled A,B,C,D. The following stanzas lines will be B,E,C,F. The idea is that the second and fourth line of the previous stanza is then used for the first and third line in the following stanza. This line pattern continues to the last stanza. At the last stanza, lines one and three will be lines two and four from the previous stanze, but also line two would be line three from the first stanze, and line four would be line one from the first stanza. A four stanza Pantoum would then follow a pattern like this. A,B,C,D: B,E,D,F: E,G,F,H: G,C,H,A.
