Breath of life
that speaks of new beginnings
an age of immortality
perceived and rarely understood
of cycles and seasons of change
when evening is filled with music and magic
Each breath of passion
where every bitter sweet touch scours and burn
leaving reminders of the clarity of love
and its unrelenting pursuits
a hunter's mark
swift and without mercy
Breath of forethought
insights to the consciousness of being
a state of fight or flee
self preservation and constant reminders
of the fragility of ego whilst seeking Mnemosyne's blessing
giver of tears and heartaches like wounds and scars displayed
Breath of shortcomings
all set out like a game plan before us
self analysis where the cure is worse than the disease
moving pieces on a chess board of mind over matter
probing for weaknesses
going in for the kill
Breath of loss and grief
of opportunities lost
looking back through aged visage to youth
ungainly and lost causes
years turned to dust
claimed once; too soon lost childhood...

Thank you for bringing this one back into the fold, David.

This is a beautiful piece, David, laden with such wisdom and clarity. I think we adults suffer greatly, from losing touch with our childhood innocence, and we regain our fears of the darkness when we do that. This is a grand penning, Scribe. Thank you for entering my contest, Sweetie. Good luck.
