I don't want to be here

A production line of emotion,
everything is packaged and gaffa-taped.
No creativity of orginality displayed,
just the same small boxes of measured feeling.
The polite amount of synthesised contentment
and a dry smile of false mirth.
Oh and the cogs are grinding along with my teeth
and I want to tear things up.
Paper, essays, my veneer of bland neutrality.
I am purposely detached so as not to allow fissures.
Familarity and, worse, affection wears things soft
and I cannot discard that which I grow to love.
Providing formulaic responses
and pretending this painful tedium is me
observing my wretched generation with intellectual disdain
when really, I'm just quite lonely.
Walk, learn, smile, eat and dream of the days of no deadlines
and spending my time with who I choose.

Author notes

I mean, really. Life is short. This is a waste of time.

Haven't spoken to you in god only knows how long, I hope you're good.

There was a stage where I felt really disillusioned when doing my A levels. (I'm guessing this is sort of what this is about.) Then, the next thing I knew, they had flown by and I was suddenly an 'adult' of sorts. So, while I felt that it was shit at the time, I would really like to go back there.

I hope you feel more fulfilled at some point.

It's been an awfully long time! I am good, hope you are very well. I read some of your poems from time to time which I must say I genuinely love, your style of writing is wicked awesome mannn.

Yes, 'tis actually...you're right, It's probably just teething problems and be not properly making the most of the last years of less responsability. Feeling slightly more positive gradually. The main thing that annoys me is they're running my favourite subject, the only one I wanted to do, on reduced time because of lack of students taking it. Lame! But c'est la vie.

Thank you for the encouragement, I really appreciate it. I hope uni is going well!
