The skies are blue, but coolin' now, these days
and they're turnin' from the powder blue to gray
and the sunshine's growin' old, everyday which does unfold
tells me Summer time is slowly slippin' away
The corn has gone to silk and husks are dry
the same ones from the summer that's gone by
where we shared our sweet romance,
did our fairy tale love dance
an' it's so hard for me to say good-bye
But, you're always goin' to be stuck in this heart
though the summer goes inside we'll never part
you're the love that burns in me
and I never will be free
when the summer's gone my hurtin's gonna start.

Thank You for Your Entry ~
Quite a wistful poem; there is love and beauty
in the words but also something more that I
can't quite put my finger on but I do love this
best of luck

Such a thoughtful, wistful poem on love. Very beautiful indeed
Love the similies of the seasons too. Best wishes in this contest

I like the way this has a kind of carefree feel, even though it is sad, and wistful, and bittersweet. It fits the prompt very well, good luck in the contest

Already seeing the corn husks dry...I am a lover of summer, blessed to know all the seasons where I live. Beautiful imagery, beyond words once again. Excellent. Blessings.
