1. How tall are you?
2. Male/female? Female
3. Age?  - 73
4. Eye color?  blue
5. Hair color?  dark-blond

6. If you had to put a label on yourself, what would it be? I do NOT put labels on myself. That is the prerogative ofthe ex-WWWII "evacuees" who will be parading wearing their brown paper  labels next Sunday... But I was one of those children who chose to "stay put!" and so needed no label
7. What is the difference between a Jake and a Tom?  A tom is an "entire" (i.e.non-castrated) male cat... I have not the least idea what a Jake (singular) is - but a "jakes" was an Elizabethan word for a privy.

8. If you had something in your pocket that can be decribed as hawk bill, what is it?  Since the hawk-bill is pa lant (a relative of the geranium) that is on the "protected" list, picking it is illegal... hence I cannot imagine the circumstances in which I would have one in my pocket.

9. What do you think the greatest commission is?  it depends on what the agent is charging commission on! i believe some theatrical agents take as much as 40% of the actor's fee. Personally, I try to avoid agents and negotiate directly with publishers.

10. would you rather win a $2500 shopping spree at your fav. Department store, or hardware store?  I should hate to have to do  either. If I somehow won such a thing, I would try and sell it - at a discount - to someone who can endure shops, bank the money and draw it out as and when I needed it for shopping in our local market... which, incidentally, three years ago celebrated its 800th anniversary!

11. Would you rather shoot a rifle or pistol?  Neither ...

12. If your company was on Strike and you had to feed your family, would you go to work although you were part of a union?

Certainly not ... as a matter of principle. In any case, I find this an unreal question for the present day!  I was brought up always to keep a minimum of 6 weeks supply of basic foodstuffs in the house - and few if any strikes last that long! Furthermore Unions seldom go on strike nowadays unless they have sufficient reserves of money for "strike pay! - and since "family" implies children, there would be sufficient social security benefits to ensure they did not lack for necessities.

13. Favorite drink?  Spring water....

14. What is a talent you think you have? I think I have a talent for translating poetry... What is more important, the various people who pay me to do it think I have such a talent.

15. What type of vehicle do you drive, or want to drive? I do not drive, nor do I want to. I CAN ride a bicycle... that is to say, I have the physical ability to do so without falling off or bashing into things... but at present am not in a state of health for for such strenuous activity. Public transport is good enough for me - particularly as at my age, it is either free or highly discounted.

16. What food could you eat everyday?  There are very few things I can eat EVERY day owing to religious fasts etc.  So the list would boil down to bread, couscous, fruit, vegetables....

17. Chuch and resting...

18. How many house plants do you have? About 10... if you count the bulbs planted but not yet showing sprouts...

f you had no money for your lovers birthday present, what would you do? Write him a poem!

20. what is your favorite childrens story? Thackeray's The Rose and the Ring.

21. If you could visit any place in the world... where would it be? The grave of Taras Shevchenko at kaniv... whither, if I live, i am due to returin in May 2011.

22. what is a secret you just couldnt keep?  I NOT reveal secrets...

23. How many times do you brush your teeth a day?  Since I wear dentures it is necessary to  cleanse them after every meal... so it depends how many times I eat during the day... Which in its turn depends on how busy I am...

24. What is your favorite gum? Do you mean gum as in stuff for sticking papers together, or gum as in eucalyptus, or gum as in mastic, which one  is supposed to chew to whiten one's teeth?  Ot the gums which go into church incense?

I suppose you mean the latter.. since it is difficult to imagine how one would have preferences with the others. I suppose my favourite is ladanum (frankincense)... but it is rather expensive, so  many churches now find it necessary to buy cheaper blends of incense which does not contain enough ladanum to be noticeable.

25. what is your favorite TV show? I rarely watch TV and then only special and "one-off" events.

26. what was your biggest purchase just for yourself? At my age, i really cannot remember....and inflation makes nonsense of prices anyway... Possibly my dentures (which three years ago cost me a whole $130 US! or else (more probably) if one takes inflation into account - a book.

27. What is your highest level of education? Sufficient for me to coach doctoral and post-doctoral candidates (pro bono scholastico)

28. Favorite subject? Ukrainian and Belarusian literature.

29. what is one product/makeup you cant leave home with out putting on? My shoulder-bag, since it contains everything I need when I am out.

30. what are the main colors in your bedroom?... various shades of while/mauve/pink/terracotta... plus the rainbow effect of the rail where all my clothes hang in due colour order.

Author notes

I have filled out your questionnaire - though I am somethat doubtful as to the relevance of such questions on what is supposed to be a poetry site.

And most of the questions seem highly irrelevant to my life and activities.

However, I feel it most unlkikely that I am a relative of yours!

Very informative, but where did it spring from?
