Writen in the Sand

Dearest Midnight.
It is late. And dark. And desperate.
I am lost within the layers of the stars you shoot out into the brilliant sky.
Give me a torch, the moon, a fire.
Guide me through candle light,
don't let it falter or flicker for your flame must keep the sun at bay.
Where have you been dear Midnight?
For I have missed you! Can I not wake even to see your dark dew dipped face?
Will you dance with me?
Like faeries round a faerie ring?
In the rain, in the night, at the greatest hour?
I will stop time, and wait for you.
I will sit on the steps, and sing.
A song about Love and endless seas.
Of Beauty and the truly wealthy.
Because with you, dear midnight, I am rich.
And because of you midnight. Everything is beautiful.
And I know you not.
You are a Stranger in the night.
Yet sometimes, strangers can see your soul
with greater sight than anyone you'll ever know.

this is so lovely! i'm so happy that someone has finally submitted something to this contest, i was worried that i would have to shut it down.

this is amazing. i remember my first attempts at poetry back in grade five...they weren't so great.

beautiful similes "like faeries around a faerie-ring". i also love the ending lines:
"Yet sometimes, strangers can see your soul
with greater sight than anyone you'll ever know."

so true. i've been touched by a comment of a stranger so many times on this site.

loving this poem thank you so much for entering !

Thanx, I'm so glad you like it. And it's great to have words of wisdom that co-incidently rhyme .
