eyes, lips

I want you in my morning
I want to miss your lips, your kiss, your eyes, your nose
I want you to love me, just for a while--
I don’t want to have wasted a poem--
I want you in my afternoon
I want to see your knowing smile
I want you to hint at what might follow
I want to wait in the glowing vial
I want you in my evening too
I want to race my fingertips and lose
I want you to take them with yours and coo
I want to receive the silver prize
I want you to let the evening turn to night
I want to lie looking at the shadows on your face
I want you to keep the moon at bay
I don’t want morning to beckon, only this day--
I want you to have loved me for a little while--
I want to say goodbye with the closing of eyes
I don’t want this morning for now it is ours
I don’t want us and you shouldn’t dream alive.
