the first drop is always a question
was that rain?
sometimes the answer is a downpour
or maybe sheets
or drizzles
or wind blown slushies
they are all messy.
sometimes it is just imagined.
or maybe it was a tear
or a bird flew by and dropped it
or it fell off of an eave
no harm done
Chicken Little can rest easy
the sky is still up there
This isn't one of those Armageddon movies
clothes wash and dry
the sun manages to see to the rest
as cars and houses and bus stop shelters
keep the needful, dry.
it isn't about umbrellas or slickers
or swallowing tears before they emerge
as tangible evidence of despair
or worrying about what that bird had been eating
and why it is on your sleeve
the world is like that
but these are not enemies
the first drop need not be a question
it is joy to dance in the rain

Loved how you described the first drop before rain comes. This is almost exactly what I think about it. Yes the sunshine state does have a shit load of rain. Our title is a misnomer. My favorite lines were "This isn't one of those Armageddon movies" and "the first drop need not be a question
it is joy to dance in the rain -
Very nice, a bit quirky and humorous, I quite enjoyed it
