Argument with a Jesuit

I intend neither to
Complete these queries nor do
These reflections in this manner since
What is inside my deepest self, what is interior stints
When put through forms so
Non-universal they go
a maimed finish
Unbound truths on paper diminish
Whenever the papers have the cocky claims
Of arrogant ‘pass’ or ‘fail’ as their only shallow aims.

The love of God marked on aging soul
Needs not your hand’s control
And its impression on the parts of my mind
Needs not your hollow grace to sigh, look up and find
(Shining to all as light of day)
Its own carved way.

What did you think
