Saying Goodbye

And then I said goodbye...
as you looked straight ahead
away from my eyes,
inside I was torn apart.
How could you just stare?
Was it to keep the tears from flowing?
Or did you care at all?
This torment made my own eyes swell.

When I walked out of the door,
that's when I saw into your heart.
The pain I had just caused you
had ripped apart your soul.
Seeing this look on your face
almost brought me to my knees.
I know this is right for me,
but I never wanted to hurt you.

You had all of me for quite sometime,
I will never forget that and my love for you
will somehow always exist.
I miss you like hell sometimes but I know
that's because of all the memories we've shared.
Us, we were never meant to be,
but you have become a part of me forever
and have shaped the person I am today;
I'll always love you in some way.
