If Jesus will look at my face
He will behold a vanished grace
A face God wrought after His image
Now a picture of fury, red with rage
Defaced by time, darkened by age.
If Jesus will look at my hands
He will spot a fading artistry
that once was grand
The gift of dexterity
which He had blessed me
Now no longer a source of glory.
If Jesus will look into my eyes
He will see "HOPE" which is threatened to die
The optimistic flicker is almost gone
And if He asks me what have I done
Jesus might only hear my lifeless sigh.
If Jesus will look into my heart
He will merely glimpse some broken pieces
The magnum opus of His divine art
was made to be broken like promises.
Jesus will reckon
that I live in my prison
And he will see
I'm not the person
God created me to be.

I'm afraid He would see that in a lot of us, unfortunately. We just have to give our best. Thanks for entering.
