It’s amazing.
I feel like the only person who truly ever got me 100% is the person who cracked me and almost split me into a thousand pieces, but sometimes I think I’m wrong. I sometimes think that the person who will see into every tiny part of me is someone I might know. Someone I might never meet. Someone who is right.in.front.of.my.eyes. you know? Staring at me and through me but I don’t notice.
I firmly believe that you never know someone until they’ve let you in. When they allow you to see them upset, crying and tearing their hair out and then not moving away from your touch, when you can walk up behind them, wrap your arms around them, breathe on their neck and then whisper “I’m here for you. I promise. I won’t let you go” and when they look at you, and let you look through them for a lingering moment – then you know they trust you. That they’ve let you see them. All of them.
Then comes the moment of realisation when you wonder why. Why this person let you witness them so upset. Why they didn’t care that you saw them at their most vulnerable, why it was you they called. It is then that you remember who you are, who they are, who everyone is and you think who really, really cares for you. And you smile. You smile because you know that you are loved. You are trusted. You make someone feel fuzzy and warm and tingly and they are comfortable around you and don’t think it’s necessary to hide anything from you and then you start to remember when you felt like that. You wonder if this person considers you their rock. Their savior. Everything they ever needed.
You try to remember when you last felt as if you had found the person who you could not live without. Platonically, romantically, emotionally, physically, mentally.
