They can be quite standoffish
but you already know that.
Touch them on their prickly stems;
you might get tit for tat.
You've tended them
and this is what you get,
But they are full of lovely gifts.
Have you put your nose to them yet?
You've tended them and pruned them.
Be careful how you prune,
and put your nose to the petals
when they are full in June.
They are never alone.
They might want to be.
They are never alone
and there's so much to see
of grace and beauty.
Just watch your hand.
Careful with those prickly stems.
They're never bland.
They give a gift to your nose,
a gift, a punishment from each rose.

Standoffish?
They do love to draw blood from the Gardner that does not pay attention.
It does help to wear gloves as well... thank you for entering, best of luck... Scott
