The Old Bookstore

The old bookstore;
reduced now to a rubble heap

an eyesore,
sadly.

It's where we
used to hang out

with cups of coffee;
browse around

in the children's room,
milk for the kids

reading that . .

. . reading this

    Superb Plus

    A very poignant write. I love used book stores since they contain a wealth of knowledge. I believe they are even better than the Internet, for once purchased they are yours to enjoy even if your computer crashes! There's nothing finer than the adventures one can find in reading a worthwhile book, whatever this last sentence may mean to you. Again, well done.

    Superb!

    Oh, what memories this evokes for me. The smell of musty books, browsing, touching. lovingly holding the many volumes of beautiful words. I find that I can get lost in the library and time is of no essence anymore. But that old bookstore will always remain a part of us. Borders and Barnes & Noble have nothing on the old bookstore. There is still one is Ann Arbor, Michigan called Aunt Agatha's. It specializes in crime and mystery books. When I lived there, I spent many an hour in there just browsing. It is a sad reality that we keep "progressing" and forget the good ole times. This is a job well done my friend. Your friend in Poetry, Mysty Rain.

    SAD, VERY SAD

    So many of our stores which were more than just stores but places which felt like home away from home are now gone. Replaced by indifferent stores with no spirit, no emotion except sales in mind. It may sound like nostalgic but it was places like that which kept us from feeling happy and not wandering around with nothing to do as kids.
