a poem from a dad to all daughters

In the wee-wee hours,
(when people go pee),
I think of you
and why, you will see,

Us Daddies, we worry
and fret and fear
what the wild world might do
to a lovable like you

We keep you close
and hold you so tight,
'cause we're afraid of the dark
even more than the night

We want you safe
and sound and secure,
no monsters or spiders
or snakes, for sure.

But what Daddies want most,
is a strong little girl
so sure of herself
and ready for the world

'Cause Daddies don't last
forever and a day
but you will live on
and I hope and pray

You'll find true love
and give true love
and live and learn
and pass it all on

To your very own daughter
(or a son, if that be)
and every once in a while
just think of me

    Heartwarming and humourous

I loved this. It was funny, witty, emotional and a real joy to read. The first two lines in particular made me chuckle and set the poem off on the right foot. Keep up the good work!
