untouchable you

no matter who you are
there's a distance lying between
a protective veil keeping us safe
while wolves prowl

the insulating layer also separates
and there's a powerful pull
that makes us wish to be truly seen
yet the need to hide pulls us equally

those who remain open thrice bitten
scold themselves for being done in again
while those dwelling in surety
wish for something more than lonely walls

something that can penetrate through
bringing the dead back to life
leading us from the dark into the light
take all the wrongs and turn them right

reaching out towards realms unseen
