Wanderlust

Everywhere,
I wish I was everywhere,
everywhere the wind can go,
across the golden dancing fields,
through the smallest wooden o.
I wish I was everywhere,
everywhere the wind can go.

Anywhere,
I wish I was anywhere,
anywhere the sun will shine,
top mountains etched in silver light,
in the nettles of a pine.
I wish I was anywhere,
anywhere the sun will shine.

And traveling on each new morning,
I’m left no time to hardly sleep.
Between diving in the ocean deep,
and searching natures wondrous keep,
my mind floats forward.

Somewhere,
I wish I was somewhere,
somewhere where the rivers lead,
beneath walls of shimmering blue,
where the oceans tides are freed.
I wish I was somewhere,
somewhere where the rivers lead.

And traveling on each new morning,
I’m left no time to hardly wake.
Between swimming in the valley lake,
where the ocean's starlights awake,
my mind floats forward.

Author notes

I practically wrote this during the drive to work. It illustrates my want to travel, visiting the wonders of nature. However, this also talks about how some people in life never find the need to stop, and are caught in a perpetual cycle, never happy with where they are, always wanting to be where they are not, always wanting to move forward.

I loved your use of repetition and your use of imagery was interesting. My all time favorite line in this was "my mind floats forward" I had the weirdest image of a brain just floating, all by itself, with no body attached lol

I really like that line as well, that is why I repeated it later on. As soon as I wrote that line I knew it would be a perfect ending. Thanks for the comment. Glad you enjoyed it.

    I can relate to this.

How do you write while driving?

well i did not physically WRITE it, but I sort of sang it, and I knew the beat and rhythm and some of the images in the car. I did not physically write it, pencil to paper, until I got home, but the words were created while driving.
