The Wisdom Of Her Eyes

I peer into the eyes
of what appears to be
a wise old woman
must be about one-hundred
with wrinkles that fold
upon another and over her eyes
I can just imagine
what her tired
now dim blue eyes
must of saw in her lifetime
like war, deprivation, sadness
death, lives destroyed
birth of many children
the beauty of flowers
many mountains and valleys
even love in her lovers eyes
she seen those days
when her face had no wrinkles
when her eyes were bright
still had a twinkle
a people watcher she was
watching many children grow
guessing what they would become
oh how wonderful it must be
to have the memory
of all the many wonders
her eyes have seen!

    Inspiring

I love the content of this piece. It was beautifully written and flowed nicely. My only suggestion is that in line 17 you watch your tense, you are referring to the past, so perhaps 'saw' would be a bit more fitting than 'seen'. Just a suggestion.

Regardless, I truly enjoyed this piece. Thank you.

    Very Insightful.

Wonderfully written. Such insight into the life of a person who has achieved an advanced age. Most people have experienced much in thier lives to ponder upon as they age. We can only imagine the things and thoughts that they have in thier minds. You have captured these things, in an outstanding way. Well done and good luck in the contest.
