There's agonizing image within the eye
as she blinks unknowingly at her crime.
Her mind begs forgiveness, from what, she doesn't know
and the world watches.
Fingers fumble
at a bloodied wound of unknown,
as reflections from the eye mirror despair.
You can see her frail mind shunning this life
as the world aches to heal.
She's worn this badge of fear forever
for the memories are tattoed
and there's a restless, defeated look,
as freedom is unknown.
But the assault of mortar shelling reminds her
of a gaping wound in her world
and that haunting looks speaks so plainly,
there must be more than this.

I really like how strong the imagery is in this, and the overall dark feel of the piece. The last stanza especially is powerful.
Thanks for your entry,

Excellent
A very vivid and powerful write. So captures the prompt with such detail. Best of luck in the contest
