Mom, the drunk.

Mom was a drunk,
She didn't care about me.
The only thing she wanted
Was her vodka and whiskey.

I'd come home from school
And there she was.
Passed out on the floor,
I knew she was buzzed.

I called my dad,
Who was at work.
I told him she was drunk
And he went berserk.

He called up my aunt
Who ran to the house.
She told me to relax
And just sit on the couch.

Some nights she'd leave the house
And go to a bar,
To drink with some guy
She knew for an hour.

There were times I'd cry
While laying in bed.
Wondering,
"When will this end?"

She finally took a stand
And decided to fight the disease.
She went to a rehab
After hearing our pleas.

I finally have my mom.
She's now here for me.
I know we'll someday be
A happy family.

  • This was a very sad read, but the ending made me smile. Your mother is a wonderful, strong woman for being able to be sober for that long. Alcoholism is a tough disease to face. Wonderful penn, thank you so much for entering.
