friends with benefits

Tried it once
  or twice

Gave myself
without feeling,
sex without passion

eyelids, unshuckable

Chilled my blood,

numbed my mind,

inhaling the warm

exhale

of my non-lover

To pretend
a friend
is a toy,
a plastic pleasure

A touch means
nothing,
A taste
easily forgotten

We were simply
animals,
not humans
with a conscience
heart or soul

The benefit;
loneliness
a self denial, creating
a vast emptiness
among friends

I am glad that I clicked on it. Not sure that I could ever do something
like that. Thanks a lot for sharing this here!

My definition of friend may be different. I have strong feelings for my friends. Emotions which have translated into strong physical attraction, not one night stand type things. Relationships with spouses and lovers don't always work out but that doesn't remove the passion that was there. Friends with benefits can be a boost to our bruised egos, a release of tensions and sate our need for passion safely, without having to resort to one nighters or casual affairs.
...but hey that's just my experience from the past, sorry yours didn't work out as comfortably.

Hi Buddy. I don't disagree at all with what you stated, what I wrote about is a possible outcome if both parties don't remain honest, good friends.I do believe sex is much better where love exists, and it does, between friends. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
      blessings,

it seems our heart and soul need more than our bodies sometimes convince our heads it needs. nicely shared thoughts.

  • been there, done that, i can so relate.
i'm just glad i grew up and learned from my
mistakes. sometimes i am sure that during
    that moment of heated passion,
what you think you feel could
cause a life time of pain,
you are a pretty amazing lady,
and you can write too... you go girl !!!
    you summed this up perfectly...

    loveandblessings2u & yours always
    love ya,
    joyce

For all the times I've heard people talk about wanting such a relationship, I've never heard it summed up so well as to what it really means. It is like trying to turn yourself off emotionally. The way you wrote this, the straight, quick lines, the visuals of normal human chemistry being brushed aside, the whole feeling you created here is perfect. We feel the cold emptiness where there should be a warmth and passion. Great job.

This is a testimony in bitter reality. A graphic look at denial. So very honest it is painful. You have written a piece that strikes a sharp blow to the heart and soul. Amazing as always my sweetest friend...I love you.

Thanks Sis. This is really just one possible outcome, I don't believe it has to be this way, but everyone has to be mature and remain loving, good friends. I read a poem that triggered this response, other than that, I kinda don't know where the hell this came from, I had had 2 glasses of wine. lol

      love you
      Michelle
