In Relation To Lights

He wore the sun down
to a tarnished silver
where rust collapsed
cord and string,
keeping stars in the sky.

She heard nail polish chip
into the cuticle,
and felt their
cigarette ash
embed between
fibers of denim.
It's past the point
when remembering
barbecued veal,
gave her a stomach ache;
Simply existing
to avoid the next mail
delivery.

It was dark in the basement,
the cold porcelain fixtures
fainting light from halogen.
The hum of a television
brings apnea,
and they both feel
oxygen in the system,
stemming from that
awkward tension afterglow.

Author notes

I just remembered that I have thawing ice cream in my purse. ARGH.

I really enjoyed this piece. Sorry, haha, at the notes. You dummy! Why would you have ice cream in your purse in the first place! Mmm ice cream, I like mint chocolate chip.

I'm trying to pick out my favourite part but it's hard. However, I am a bit confused here:

    "It's the past the point
    when remembering"

--am I not getting it or are there too many the's? I like this:

    "fainting light from halogen.
    The hum of a television
    brings apnea"

--that's probably the best, in my opinion. The beginning was a hook, line, and sinker too. Yeah I used that line, so what!

Yeah, too many "the"'s. What can I say, I type too slow for my mind.
I had ice cream in my person because I forgot to eat it right when I got home, and instead left it in my room (thank god the heat-ah wasn't turned on, so it was properly thawed by the time I got to it). It was Cherry Garcia. It was okay, not the best. I like mint chocolate chip too. <3
