Ich sehe nie seiner Gesicht
Aber singt er, ich verstumme
Ich verstehe alle nicht.
Zusammen mit er
Alle sind nicht schwer
Er beraten mich.
Ich sehe jetzt endlich
Wenn nur ich immer glaub'.
English:
He whom I cannot see
He sings to me, only a voice
I never see his face
But he sings, I am quiet
I understand nothing at all.
Together with him
Everything is not difficult
He guides me
I see at long last
If only I always believe.
Author notes
A German poem using the same rhythm and rhyme scheme as a poem written by Martin Luther (Ein feste Burg). A collaboration with Katja (aka Caitlyn) for a German project. I have to say, trying to write a poem with an ABABCCDDE rhyme pattern and a certain syllable pattern in a language you're not yet fluent in is pretty difficult. But I'm happy with it. It's kind of half based on the Phantom of the Opera, half on God. Ein feste Burg is about God, and we weren't sure if we had to make it about God since its in the time of the reformation, so we made it about Phantom, but so that it kinda sounded like it could be about God.
