Thoughts numb
movement sleep deprived
lips aching for one last drag of a
Newport light
My patience jumps out the window
and steers into the car of the lady I
Just cut off
I sketch a portrait of light rose upon my frown and
mentally play connect the dots through the
rear view mirror
I squint because without my Gucci frames I’m illegal
and
I have to see the guy who’s
riding my ass
My foot starts to weigh 80mph while the wheel becomes
magnetic to my grip
I weave past my patience and throw a wink that sews nervous
eyes closed
as I cozy up to a Lane that has my name all over it
finally my thoughts are conscious
movement is dancing
and
cravings have finally fallen asleep
My day is looking up until
Shit,
that guy on my ass was a
cop

This is a perfect contest for you, as these 'real life' snipbits are your forte. This brought a smile to my face...I'm always surprised when I realise cops are behind me...I never notice them until it's too late.

LOL!!! You are hilarious! I was just nodding at the end UNTIL I read the very end...hahaha. And there I thought, "What a reflective, poetic morning that must have been" LOL.). A cop, huh? haha. Layne, you have not lost your touch at all. This was very well done - glad to read you again.
