The Lung Season

like confetti on paper
my flowers brightened summer
they were my classroom
bright eyed children
I was their mother

leaves of garnet and amber
are now letting go
like the tree
I am changing, have shed
the past season

the flowers bow
I wave good bye
they teach me
to retreat
focus energy
deeply within roots

gain strength
grow inwardly
almost like a cherished
secret to share
when we bloom again
