Taught as a child often what we see,
and hear just arent so.
To leatn to read body language ,
it will help you grow.
To hear the silet words unspoken and then,
not fret over the small stuff and relish a grin.
For many in the world are full of stories indeed,
and it delights them so if they can make you believe .
So to humor those who tells white lies ,
I smile and hold a sparkle in my eyes.
But to believe it well lets say I hear it I do ,
but it often doesnt register as the truth.
Old lessons never die,
taught from my elders how to spot a lie.
For some they speak of woose in great form ,
and the coming of such rterrible storms.
One has to be taught of people indeed,
some are good but some are just in need.
Unknowing they arent truthful for they have lied so many years,
often just needs someone to listen someone to hear.
But kindness will prevail for those so lost,
to tell them they are wrong comes at great cost .
Tempers flair and friends slip away they say,
yet if you just listen and smile you can just walk away.
Just as the old man who had known many troubles,
but most of them never happened. ( quote by Mark Twain}
Let not your common sense be shadowed
with stories of pretend,
Lean while young by your elders teir lessons never end .
And learn you have a choice to hear what you will,
and leave the untruths behind when you get your fill.

Fantastic! (Needs some spell check, though...)

A well deserved trophy. A great piece of advice that would change the world if followed. Written so smooth and flowing. What a piece.

Good words to measure life as one goes by
A lie is often a bad taste you will have to savor one day for dinner...mac

So true...some even start to live their lives as though it is truth, I rather be silent or would have to be honest...so yes the quote inspired prompt is rightfully so. Congrats on the Gold, well deserved. Blessings.

Like this take on the quote...congrats on your gold! Happy Birthday!
love, faith

Sounds, from your notes, like someone is good at changing the subject, lol.
Yes, it's figuring out what those untruths are that can drive one to distraction. I guess you just Learn to go with your gut, ask the trusted for counsel, and hopefully what you choose is right. Guidance is a truly wonderful thing when used properly.
Thank You So Very Much for such a thoughtful, soul-stirring poem!
& Blessings,

sad thing is at times we keep believing the lies just because we want so bad for them to be true... but there does come a time that we have to face the truths. best of luck in the contest . thank you for entering
