Once upon a time,
There lived a Daddy, a Mommy and a girl named Laurie,
From where they came, I do not know,
Where they were going, I was very sure,
“The bus leaves at 5” Daddy reminded Mommy
“Ahh tourists…” I thought to myself
On her lap, Mommy slowly placed little Laurie,
She must have been about two…maybe three,
Securely mommy placed safe hands over her body,
Little Laurie, oblivious to her mommy’s protection
Wondered where on earth she is,
Or so her face said it seemed.
A pat on the head,
Laurie looked around, up and wide,
“Who is patting my head” she wandered,
And on the corner of her eye she saw Daddy,
Grinning away as though he had done something naughty,
Daddy’s grin made the little one happy,
A similar grin formed on her face,
“She must be like her Daddy” I chuckled quietly
It was time to get down,
Daddy quietly opened out the pram,
Mommy carefully placed little Laurie inside,
No struggle, no whining, only just an affectionate smile,
As the doors opened, Daddy, Mommy and Laurie ventured out
I trailed from behind, oblivious and unknown to them,
Amazed and awestruck I felt,
To be given the privilege to witness one of God’s greatest act,
And to one day have a Laurie of my own…
