Three strikes, You're out

If you are going to lie to me
I don't want to hear about it
You are nothing but a faker
Nothing but a trouble maker

Get your stories straight
Before you tell your lies
You only make things worse
And get in deeper every time

Maybe we should all applaud you
For how this scene played out
But we don't want an encore
This deceitful play was enough

So this is where the fights begin
More lies are your bread and butter
Pulling out all the cards in your deck
So you can raise the betting stakes higher

But what happens when you get caught cheating
And all hell breaks loose at your door
Your little world will come tumbling down

Sorry but you know the score

Author notes

I'm not at all surprised at how many times someone can cheat, tell lies and think they can get away with it. So they make up more stories and get deeper and deeper into trouble when their story doesn't check out. There is always a flaw in their little game of deception. If you can't get your stories straight and if they are not in sink you will get caught out.

Why three strikes one is enough lol oh my yes I know this write so well yes people lie dig a big hole but.. you can do that without lying I'm often seen with a big spade usually when I say one word meaning another or it sounds a certain way and means something different to the viewer and I try to say oh it was innocent and just make things worse lol. I definately prefer the nice one but liars oh my there everywhere hon at least you found them out even if they do lie more to cover themselves makeS me laugh to think of them and the way they actually believe there jabber. Very good write you have here hon well done

Over the years I've known many liars, each doing it for their own selfish reasons. Your poem is very truthful in that I can relate here, given that I've seen it and lived with people who constantly lie. Even when you let them know that you know they are lying, they just can't help it, continuing to lie and dig themselfs into a very big hole. A simple poem but powerful in the way you wrote it. Thanks for sharing and good luck with your future writings.

I like this one a lot! I know I can relate to this one very much, in fact a lot of what you said, I felt today. Sadly, I`m sure all too many of us have felt this way. I like the flow and simplicity of your writing. What you said was harsh, but it was said so beautifully! Thanks so much for sharing and I hope you have better luck with the next one!

I like it, all the parts fit together nice. There is one part that seems odd in the line "So you can raise the betting stakes higher". It feels like there's too much in the line, but maybe you say it differently than I imagine. When I listen to it in my head and take the word higher off the end it sounds neat, and none of the meaning gets lost because raise is in the line already. It does loose the rhyme with butter but draws attention to the relationship between raise and stakes, and that's the whole point of the deception right. I don't know, it seems like a good place to say "hey, look, everything is about to break" and you did. On the line before that "Pulling out all the cards in your deck", which word carries the most weight, all or your? All seems to be the logical place for weight and to me it sounds the best, but your is a good place to put emphasis too. With the tone and subject of this poem I'm not sure which of those words gets the attention. Could you tell me please? Does what I said help at all?
