What Leaves Comes Again

Missing image
Leaves are falling fast, bare
      limbs I see,
All quiet now no songs, no
      voices come to me.
Winter is coming, animals
      staying low,
As colder breezes begin
      to blow.
Silence though is a welcomed
      treat,
My heart missing the many animals
      I usually meet.
Yet a special beauty is just
      around the corner,
Helping the winter to feel
      a little bit warmer.
Through that cloud your breath floats
      up in the air,
Stop, look, awesome sights abound in
      the bright, white glare.

Author notes

With the passing of autumn's beautiful sights and vivid colors there is still a beauty to be seen. Even in the winter's bleak and barren scenery there is a certain awe in the white covered surroundings about you.

    wonderful

Kevin, this is wonderful. As autumn moves towards it last days of the season, it amazes me, just like today I have a tree in my front yard and it was full of leaves this morning and by noon it was bare. But as winter approaches I welcome the solace. Time for reflection. I love to wake early on a snowy morn with a cup of hot coco and just walk out on my porch and look at the beauty of the peacefullness before the town awakes and it becomes that big headache of shoveling. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and for reading my poem.

      HELLO JUNE

Thank you ever so much for coming by and reading this! Yes, I to find winter beautiful, but now a little hard to get through for health reasons. Still though going for a walk after a new fallen snow when all is quiet and still is a scene all must do at one time in their lives.

Even bare and silent, the trees have much beauty and wisdom to offer. Beautiful images and poetry, Kevin!

Puppydog, you have once again entranced me with your beautiful words and keen observations of all around you. Autumn is certainly a grand season as it prepares us for the winter, but then, the spring is just over the hill and new life will again tantalize your eyes. It sounds sorrowful in this write, yet at the same time, it speaks of the wonders that can still be found in the barren life that sleeps awaiting regeneration. Just sensational and I thank you for the wonderful read.

      HELLO CONDOR

Thank you ever so much for coming by and reading this one. I do not especially like the extreme cold as it makes me breathing difficult, but love to go out and walk in the snow and all its quiet and peaceful wonder. To walk in fresh fallen snow in the deep woods with complete quiet all around is truly an amazing wonder.

      HELLO ANAISNAIS

Thank you ever so much for coming by and reading. Autumn is so vivid with bright colors and as they begin to fade and what is left is barren trees and brown grass one begins to feel a little sad. Then with a snowfall and its unique beauty all its own one stands in awe again.

I love the pic, and you portray the melancholy and desolation of winter well. Indeed the winter sky does comprise a white glare, more intense than at other times of year. We don't get more than a few centimetres of snow for several years at a time where I live, though a few miles away on Dartmoor or in Cornwall (UK) it can fall more intensely. I remember one early spring-time, literally on winter's end, in my ex-partner's car, how we drove through shallow snow across the moors, chasing a sunset. Strange to think that day was nine years ago almost ... how time flies, like a dove beyond the reach of even the tallest men's hands.

I always remember things so much more lucidly in winter ... and this poem just brought back a good memory.

What a beautiful picture... although I dislike the winter season it can be beautiful and comforting when I can stay inside, stay warm with hot chocolate and relax. I love it when sometimes the city shuts down with too much snow. I love the peace and quiet tor winter!! This poem was so relaxing to read!
