I said goodbye with words,
A rash formed on my heart,
The rose within me swelled,
My mind opened apart.
I cried all night when I dreamt
Of little things that made no sense.
I would have cried if I had not woken,
To the sound of your heart beating.
I opened my eyes, opened them wide.
It was dark but I found you with my arms.
My touch was soft; your breathing was ragged,
I wish it weren’t true, maybe I shan’t be alarmed.
I held you and stroked through your curly hair,
Dark and soft, and I kissed you with care.
I don’t know, I really don’t know,
Oh, but please, honey… Don’t go…

A story between man and wife, when wife has to let go when her husband has to give up to death. Life's rotten i suppose.

beautiful
I loved the formation of this piece, Rhyme and free verse intertwined. You have stunning imagery. I loved the way you described the condition on your heat as a rash, it was a stark contrast to the softness we usually associate with love. the first stanza was definitely my favorite! just the way you describe love opening like a rose. stunning great job
