The scarlet leaves dance
on branches of a sugar maple,
and here we are in the kitchen
eating homemade pancakes
drinched in artificial maple syrup!
I once wished for the simple life...
Give me food and give me wine.
Give me chickens in the yard,
and maybe one cow mooing in the barn.
That use to be my dream
when I had you in my life.
It is still a dream that I'll
carry 'til I die.
I take the kids out to play in leaves of yellow.
The big dog barks at the little dog.
Our youngest child spins until he's silly,
then vomits up the homemade pancakes
with artificial syrup.
Just like you threw me out of your life.

Now that's a bit of imagery that I didn't really need to partake of.
But the write iteslf was very well done, best of luck to you in the contest... Scott
