Survival

I used to think:
“Why didn’t Mum and Dad
Teach us to love all living things?”
Then I remembered:
“Oh yah, we eat them.”
What would I have my parents say:
“Here Billy, eat your pet.”
They taught us ambivilence,
Fear, even hatred
For a reason:
“Survival.”

    You make all seem so simple ...

    and of course, you are right. We do much for survival.
    A friend of mine told me today I should be more selfish, it may be to the benefit of others. I giggled.
