My Mother's Melody
My mother's name was Melanie
She used to sing a song to me
A mournful little melody
While Pa was fishing on the sea.
I don't recall the tune at all
But as she sang, she took a ball
And bounced it gaily off the wall
And off my head, and off her shawl.
And now, whenever music plays
I still recall those far off days
Although my brain's a sort of haze
Because of mother's cruel ways.

That is very nice of you to say so. I'm sure I can do worse if pushed.
