Miss Claire's Questionnaire

- The basics -

Name
Deanna

Nickname
Dee, Dini, D-Styles & shithead… take your pick.

Where in the world are you?

Australia

Age
Let’s just say, I’m old enough to know better than to answer this question truthfully… I’m pretty sure you know the real answer so I’m going with 26 for the sake of the survey.  Yeah, 26 sounds nice.

Occupation
I’m temping as an office manager at the moment but I’ve never really been a career kind of person. I prefer to make my money & live my life in the sunshine. My real love is with the arts, I’m an aspiring artist & one day I hope to be able to add aspiring writer to the list. In the meantime, I’ll keeping looking for the job that can support me & my real passions ☺

- Random questions -

What time did you get up this morning?
Late enough not to have time to shave my legs, dry my hair or find a pair of shoes that actually matched my outfit. I’ve been so sleepy lately! I should have been awake at 7.20am but it must have been more like 8am.

What was the last film you saw at the movies?
I honestly can’t remember but you can pretty much guarantee I was stoned, which would explain why I can’t remember. I’m not really into the American blockbusters… I avoid them unless someone convinces me it’s worth a watch but even then I usually need something to get me thru it. I’m more of a foreign/cult & clever low budget film kinda gal.

What is your favorite TV show?
I don’t watch much telly… hmmm… and I don’t have just one fave. I’d find it difficult to chose between Wilfred, Flight of the Conchords, Arrested Development & We Can be Heroes.

What do you usually have for breakfast?
A pint of coffee and a banana.

What's your middle name?
Kristy. My dad argues with me about this… he tries to tell me it says “Dickhead” on my birth certificate but I know he’s lying.

Has anyone ten years older than you ever hit on you?
Yes… I’ve had a man 40 years older than me hit on me. What an awkward moment that was! It wasn’t so much his age or his looks, it was more the way he spat when talked and the way he tried to stick his tongue down my throat when I wasn’t paying attention YIKES!!!! I legged it out of there as quickly as I could…

What is your favorite CD at the moment?
I am loving The Rakes right now but they’ve just broken up so I’m grieving big time. Ten New Messages would be my fave album - We Danced Together one of my fave tunes. It’s impossible to dance to it & feel sad at the same time… try it, I dare you.

What kind of car do you drive?
2008 Subaru Forester XT – he’s black with cream interior and I love him to bits BROOM BROOM!!! I’m still paying him off but he’s worth it. I love camping & 4wd’g and so does he… it’s a wonderful friendship.

Favorite sandwich?
Rye & sunflower seed bread always with roasted veggies, feta & basil OH YEAH!!!! I’m a true sandwich snob. It’s got to be made with love or I cant eat it. I can eat just about any old crap for dinner but my sandwiches are serious business. My family & friends call me “The Sandwich Queen” and I’m not evening joking

What characteristics do you despise?
I have quite a few… I can’t stand liars, people who judge others when they’re a bit fucked up themselves, deceit, stubbornness, selfishness, arrogance, etc. What I seriously can’t handle are over-the-top-angry twits who act along the lines of "As far as I'm concerned, I'm right! And I'll viciously, angrily, and maliciously defend my position, no matter how much conclusive evidence there is to the contrary". I find it hard to bite my tongue. Anyways, you get the idea. I could go on and on and on… couldn’t I?!

Favorite item of clothing?
In general, my favourite item of clothing is the poncho… it’s the all-weather-leisure-gear and it hides a multitude of sins. No one should ever leave home without one! It’s a shame they make you look like a twat though. Other than that I love my summer dresses… I feel so free and breezy and perty in them.

If you could go anywhere in the world for a vacation, where would you go?
Hahaha… I’m of course planning a photography trek in Laos but I have dreams of going to South America, Tibet and hopefully, one day, Zimbabwe. I wouldn’t turn down a vacation anywhere though… I do love to travel – the more adventure, the better.

What color is your bathroom?
White, white & white with chocolate coloured floor tiles… and bright coloured towels & pretty things – mainly purple or orange, depending on my mood.

Favorite brand of clothing?
I’m a big fan of Perth designers & have a new fave every week but Bim Kenesis always makes some of the most unique clothes I’ve seen around for a while – she’s not only a wonderfully talented designer, she’s also a friend & she gives me big discounts.

Where would you retire?
In a caravan… I’m gonna hit the road in any country I feel like at any given time and keep driving till I cark it.

Most memorable birthday?
The one I had 3 weeks ago. I’m getting old… my memory sucks, sorry.

Favorite sport to watch?
Sport???? Is porn a sport?? Hehehe.. not really but sport has never really been my thing. Ummm… I guess I’ve watched a lot of rally & V8 supercar championships, a little bit of cricket and I try to watch the FIFA World Cup finals but I’m not into getting up at 3am so I miss a few matches.

Do you care if your socks are dirty?
Sort of but not really. I’ll wear them but I don’t like the way they feel – it makes me cranky and short tempered.

The last place you went out to dinner?
Mela Indian Restaurant – South Indian Yum Yums OH MY GOD I ate like a bastard. You have no idea!

Where is the weirdest place you have slept?
In Frankfurt airport. I had 12 hours to wait at the airport & I couldn’t get a hotel room. There was this racing car, like a proper car – it was awesome!! The doors opened upward and it had the most comfortable leather racing seats inside. Apart from the fact it had a video game dash that kept blaring with car sounds & bleeps & some dude trying to convince me to put coins in the slot, it was a pretty good sleep. I climbed into the passengers seat & put my backpack in the drivers seat, leaving my husband asleep on a bench somewhere… shut the doors, put my alarm on the dash and went nigh nighs for a whole 8 hours… yippeeeee!!!!!

I also fell asleep on a beach somewhere in Andalucía, South of Spain, after a big night on the sangria. The place I slept wasn’t weird but it was weird waking up on a beach not knowing where I was or how I got there or where I’d parked the campervan and not being able to communicate with the locals. I’m surprised I’m still alive.

Favorite saying?

“Some people never go crazy, what truly horrible lives they must live”, Charles Bukowski - that's my fave but I live my life by the saying "Never let the sun set on an argument"... i can't hold a grudge, i don't have it in me to be angry for long.  My anger lasts for a split moment, then I just want to cuddle.

When is your birthday?
7 October every single year… can you believe it?!

Are you a morning person or a night person?

I am definitely a night person. Mornings were a cruel invention. I can stay up all night and sleep all day quite happily. I come alive at night, which sucks when I need sleep.

What is your shoe size?
8 US/40 FR but I will try to squeeze my feet into other sizes if they’re pretty enough.

Pets?
YES PLEASE!! I love animals! I’ve always had a pet of some kind. I have a cat called Soho, and two Jack Russells… a 2-year-old female called Minnie and a 6-month-old called Wilfred. They are my little angels. They are so funny, it’s hard to be sad around them, that’s for sure. True love and happiness rolled into 2 sweet little puppies!!

What did you want to be when you were little?
A vet, a singer or a writer… whoopsy-daisy – 3 strikes!! I guess I failed.

What are you today?
An idiot, according to my boss. I’m inclined to agree with him…. But only for today.

What is your favorite candy?
Peanut brittle. I have a thing for nuts & chocolate.

What is your favorite flower?
Poppies, with tulips at a close second. I get the petals of tulips & carefully turn them out so you can see the inside – nobody gets to see how beautiful they are on the inside and I think that's a shame.  they really are a beautiful flower. I also love peonies & magnolias but florists never seem to have them.

What's the next day on the calendar you are looking forward to?
Any day I don’t have to go to work is worth looking forward to.

Are you religious?
No but religion fascinates me. I’m interested in learning about religion but I don’t believe organised religions are always a good thing and I don’t think it’s for me. I believe in being a good person, being generous, living life & doing the best I can… that’s it.

What are you listening to right now?
An extremely poor version of a Coldplay song being screeched out by an Australian Idol contestant. If someone doesn’t turn the tv off soon I’m going to smash it. Ahhh… now I’m listening to Bon Iver – sweet!

What was the last thing you ate?
I’m eating peanuts right now.. but it might be icecream and bananas by the time I’ve finished the survey

Do you believe in angels?
I don’t know if I believe in angels as in girls with white wings that fly down from heaven but I do believe in something. I believe spirits watch over us if that’s the same thing. I’ve had too many weird experiences to say there’s nothing out there. It’s also a comforting thought that “something” is there for us, guiding and watching over us.

If you were a crayon, what color would you be?
Orange. It’s my favourite colour and while it may not be one of the most used of the crayons, it compliments most of the other colours and I think that’s nice.

What is your pet peeve?
Loud mouths, big mouths, know-it-alls and people scoffing food down like they haven’t eaten for weeks. Greed annoys the hell out of me, greed of any kind really.

Last person you spoke to on the phone?
My sister. We talk on the phone all the time… I talk on the phone a lot! I love my friends & family & chat to them regularly.

Favorite soft drink?
A decent ginger beer or ginger ale. I sometimes like coke in summer but only if its icey icey cold & fresh out of the bottle.

Favorite restaurant?
Longrain, Little Bourke Street in Melbourne. Went there with a group of friends one night… some of the best food & yummiest cocktails I’ve had – and one of the best nights out with my mates. A very nice place to eat indeed.

Hair Color?
Blonde – although I did find a strand of grey on my last birthday – on my BIRTHDAY Claire!!! I’ve had all sorts of colours over the years, including a pink mini mo-hawk – my dad has always said it was the best haircut I ever had but he is colourblind.

Siblings?
One sister, almost 2 years older but a year apart in school so we’ve always been really close & shared friends. I love her to bits – she needs extra love and care but she’s worth the trouble (most of the time) and she has a fantastic wardrobe so I need to stay on her good side

Favorite day of the year?
Any day I’m not at work.

What was your favorite toy as a child?
My Bucky-Beaver (oh.. that's sounds terrible!!). My uncle gave him to me when I was 3. He’s not a beaver and there’s nothing bucky about him. He’s just an ugly bear with a funny face. I still have him. He’s being held together with poorly sewn thread, bandaids & sticky patches but I still have a strange bond with him. It must be a comfort thing.

Summer or winter?
SUMMER!!!! Winter was a bad, bad, bad idea as far as I’m concerned. Summer, Spring & Autumn – there really is no need for Winter! I cant warm up – my feet get cold and that’s it. I love the heat. There’s nothing better than diving into a cold pool (or the waves) on a hot day.

Hugs or kisses?
Whoa.. this is a toughie!! Kisses are usually pretty good (and I kinda like where they might lead hehehehehe) and it’s difficult not to kiss & cuddle at the same time so KISSES IT IS.

Chocolate or vanilla?
Chocolate, unless we’re talking icecream.

Where do you keep your spare change?
I spend everything I have. If anyone leaves spare change lying around, I’ll nab it and spend it. I’m addicted to coffee – spare change is my HERO at times.

When was the last time you cried?
I don’t normally cry a lot but I have cried like a big baby over the past couple of days. Such a big crybaby sometimes!! I cry when my feelings are hurt but I don’t cry in front of others – or I do my best not to.

What is under your bed?
A whole lot of dust. I haven’t done the vacuuming yet.

Who is the friend you've had the longest?
I try to stay in touch with anyone who has meant something to me. I guess the one friend I’ve stayed close to over the years is Juliette. I met her when I was 10, she has become like the sister that drives me nuts but I love anyway ☺ She had a tough home life so ended up moving in with my family & lived with us on-and-off until she was 23, even after I had moved out.
I have another couple of friends who stand by me no matter what because they know me like no one else… my friend Kevin who I met when I was 15 and Paul who I’ve known since I was 13.   They are my heroes and my confidants. They know me inside out - sometimes I think they know me better than I know myself.  If anyone believes in me, it’s those 2.  I’m very lucky to have such amazing friends.

What did you do last night?
I am so boring! I’ve been really tired from work so I drank some wine & chatted to a few friends online (one of them was Paul ☺ ) & then I fell asleep.

Favorite smell?
Nothing else gets to me like the smell of a good man.  I love that fresh, sexy smell - makes me go gaga.

What are you afraid of?
Too many things but I never let it show. I’m mostly scared of hurting people, making mistakes and not being good enough. I’m also terrified of the usual… spiders, snakes, scorpions and heights.

What makes you laugh?
I laugh a lot… humour is my blanket. I try to find the funny side in just about everything. I’m not being me if I’m not laughing. I am a sucker for a silly tv series though, I can’t help but laugh at people falling over or hurting themselves and I giggle when I’m nervous. There is always time to laugh.

How many years at your current job?
6 weeks as a temp. I’m still kind of employed in another job but I’m on leave without pay. I’ve been employed with them for 8 years.

Favorite day of the week?
Friday from 6pm… the weekend hasn’t even begun yet! So exciting.

Favorite book?
That’s a tough one. “One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest” would stand out as one of my faves.  I collect art & photography books as well. My most treasured is a handmade/handbound series by Australian artist Akina (Lang Leav). So cute!!

- and to round up -

Who do you wanna be in the family?
Your Uncle Kevin or cuddly big sis, I’m not fussy.

Why do you wanna be this?
I’ve been your cuddly big sis for a while now and I'd like to stick around cos I love your squooshy guts.

Why are you actually doing this?
I think I've been doing a good job so far swinging from the branches of your family tree & I love ya… although I got halfway thru the questions and wondered what I’d got myself into. WOW, this was a long one but fun all the same… MWAH!!
