A Memory of the Clouds

Violins whispering across your smile
As the world slowly ebbs away
A quiet beauty in a pit of lies
Oh how the music drifts away

There's little left to be found
The people are dead
There's no more sound
Metal twisting towards the sky
A new being with a heart
A deadly friend of the night

Stand if you wish, there's no rush
The voices run with the clouds
Lost memories of those
Who simply forgot to let go

The world won't simply fade
The pain is an echo of disgust
Something we all deserve
The payment for being pathetic

Cold and grey amongst the mud
Your eyes a vibrant green
Desperation, discretion
Wishing to be saved
But not even the sweetest price
Will ever be your freedom

The whole world's gone away
They've left you here to rot
As the trees are taken with the wind
And the violins disintegrate
Your duty has been done
Your soul has been won
And it's time for you to accept your fate

You'll be full of sorrow
Your body will slowly rot
All you will be is a memory
Who forgot to let go

Voila! I was going to do hate but when I began writing I focused more on the idea of a world rotting beneath their feet. And so, it became sorrow.

Hey, it's been a while. I see that your writing has matured a lot, although it was good before, as well.

The thing that stands out to me here -- and it really caught me by surprise -- was the flow of your piece; the syllabance. With the exception of maybe a couple lines, the entire piece has a very inviting rythm. Smooth, feels quick.

Keep writing, it's good to see your stuff again.
