Waiting for the darkness to hide your every move,
You are in control, that's all you've got to prove.
Everyone's asleep so the ritual can begin,
So quiet you could hear the drop of a pin.
You draw the blade close and press into your skin,
Not even contemplating where it has been.
Each mark tells a story, you wear your heart on your sleeve,
You're confident and care-free, or so people believe!
When inside you are screaming, you are angry and hurt,
After your mum hit the bottle you were treated like dirt.
Carer for your sister, mother to your own mum,
Missing the days when you could go out and have fun.
A poison that tore your family apart,
Leaving you all with broken hearts.
Trust was lost and tears were shed
Your sister and you left crying in your beds
You turned to self harm to rid you of the pain
Every cut was relief that you were able to gain
The feelings were too strong and you were too weak
You didnt care if your new obsession branded you a freak
You were able to cope and face each day
Dealing with those feelings come what may
So now you are wiser and trying to find new ways to cope
Writing poetry gives you some sense of hope
An outlet for those feelings, a way to escape
Stronger now, you will be harder to break.
What did you think

Amazing
I can relate to this poem more then words can say. Your an amazing writer and I love the poem! -
this is filled with tons of emotion. i lovee how you state that writing poetry is your escape. it really is something to get out all of your feelings. relating to you with the blade, i'm realizing that one day each of us will be strong enough to put it down, but it will come in time. and we're not a "freak" , it's just our simple way to deal with our problems.

This is such a strong and emotion filled piece. I can relate so much to this. It saddens me to know of your pain. If you ever need someone feel free. Well done and keep it up.
