The task was set and I couldn’t believe
How I wasn’t going to achieve
The simple mission of finding a beast
A giant mammoth on which to feast
The ritual requested from my clan
For me to be considered a man.
Tracking the brute with spear in hand
For many days over grassy land
Then I thought I had the animal ensnared
When into the jungle it ran off scared
But then the day got really weird
When the humongous monster disappeared!
I looked up high, I looked down low
Just where can a creature of such size go?
Under leaves and twigs and rocks
Even in the mouth of a river croc
I started to sweat, worry and squirm
Since I couldn’t find that pachyderm!
In the trees, and in bird nests
I started to think I would fail this quest
Under water, inside a cave
And my future suddenly was looking grave
‘Cause for the life of me, I just can’t
Find that bloody elephant!
I even climbed a huge grey stone
That moved a little and moaned and groaned
The stone was big enough to see
Across the jungle and over the trees
And even though I’m no mastermind
I decided a mammoth is too hard to find!
I hiked back home sad and depressed
And to my clansman I did confess
How I failed in my assignment
Then they handed out punishment
The clan was hungry and needed to be fed
So they decided to cook and eat me instead!
