Wraith At Sea

My ship wavers lost at sea
But no crew here beside me
Winds offering no direction
The maps chart mere isolation
And still, the clouds grow darker
I wonder how much farther… wayward I must go

Peering down deep below
At what, I cannot know
In blackness I strain to see
Murky waters confounding me
The hours are running dry
And soon the time is nigh… to put my soul to sea

We all seek out the route
Quest with an end and free of doubt
But often the waves lead astray
Leave us waiting for the day
When we cease to wonder why
Should this be our state when we die…when we die?

Here we’ve reached the crucial tide
To land or drift, we must decide
Confusion, fear, stormy skies
In anger, fist held high
Summon strength to steer the ship
Or a wraith at sea I will drift

Mastering the violent waves
Set my course and none too late
To break free is the final goal
Wrest the anchor from my soul
This wraith at sea now rejecting
Damned journey, redirecting
Away from this emptiness
And latent life is laid to rest
