I see better upside-down

My mum one day gave me a black evening dress as a gift.

There, she said. Now there’s no way you’ll be able to do your antics now.
It’s time you started acting proper.

I realised she was right. I had to start acting like a grown-up.

So I shortened it to knee-height, sexed myself up, and turned the party upside down.

New York spires speared the clouds
So I kicked my legs up too

People waved up at me to come down
So I wiggled my toes back

My friends squealed I shouldn't be standing there
So I opened my legs out wide and shouted "Better? Can you see the sun now?"

You're mad! Crazy, a nutcase! they yelled.
You're just jealous, I said. Because doing things people would never do is what makes my life worth living.
