News cast tells me the world is going to hell,
As I wake up early to more air pollution warnings.
Nobody seems to notice everything is getting worse
as more and more bodies get carried off
in a big black Hearse.
We're digging our own graves
by ignoring the blasphemy
of unjust wars and only caring
about who wins the next Emmy.
The world has become a desert
of lust and sin where nobody
but those high up can win.
We've all buried our faces in the sand
of what media tells us,
feeds us,
lies to us.
Shovel in hand I will dig up the sand.
Watch and wait, the end is at hand,
soon those who make our decisions
for us will decide it is time,
to pull the plug.
Author notes
A small inspiration by one of my favorite Maiden songs, Face In The Sand. They spread so many messages in their music I just wish people would stop thinking that Heavy Metal is all about the devil, when in truth we expose him in every song!

I loved this poem. You make extremely good points in both the poem and the AN. We have stopped caring about what goes on in the world despite the fact that in doing so we're only making things worse. Thanks for entering my contest!
